81 | Mexico’s Secret to Happiness
Hey Friends,
What to say about Mexico? I had a great time as I tried not to be a tourist and spent a lot of time with locals exploring different towns and some iconic places.
Some of the things I truly loved:
Flying over the Pyramids of Teotihuacán. I jumped on a hot air balloon very early and saw the sunrise over the pyramids. Wow. Watching this 25 seconds, still make me feel there.
San Miguel de Allende. A colonial-era city in Mexico’s central highlands. I loved the cobblestoned centre and the Parroquia de San Miguel Arcángel, whose dramatic pink towers rise above the main plaza and you can see it from the hill. Fascinating place.
Making Tacos with a Local Chef. I haven’t released the video yet but this was incredible. We went to the market together, bought all ingredients, came back to his place and started to cook from zero different types of tacos.
Vitamin T. This is the secret to happiness. Tortas, Tostadas, Tacos, Tlacoyos… and so many more starting with T. When it comes to food, Mexicans know! Every single memory I have from Mexico involves food.
Frida Kahlo in Mexico City. Frida was a Mexican painter known for her many self-portraits. In fact she once said she didn’t paint dreams or nightmares but her own reality. I’m not a museum guy but this museum was actually her house. I won’t spoil it, just go. It’s a must. You can watch this if you want a teaser.
Mexican People. My best memory. Some of the best people I’ve ever met in my life. Huge heart, hospitality, humility, respect and curiosity.
If you have some cool stories about Mexico, I’d love to chat with you on Twitter or Instagram.
Have a great week!
Alejandro

🗺️ Road To 197
The road to 197 countries is a long one, lonely and perhaps scary. The more I travel to off the beaten path countries, the more I question myself do I really want to visit every country in the world? Is visiting Mali, Burkina Faso, Yemen and countries like that really what I want?
The answer is YES, I want to visit every country in the world, but how far do I wanna push myself at the moment to visit some of the “difficult” countries?
From social media it seems like I'm living the dream. Traveling the world and creating content in cool places. Trust me that is just social media. I spend most of my weeks planning trips, dealing with visas, getting in touch with local people, figuring out the latest on covid/regulation, researching if I can take my drone, if it's safe and in parallel editing a backlog of videos for the channel… and planning new ones.
As an update, the good thing is that I’ve recently visited countries #69 🇦🇲 Armenia, #70 🇬🇪 Georgia and #71 🇦🇿Azerbaijan.
In Armenia I had the time of my life and people were incredible, I made a video and hopefully you'll see this at some point in September. This was a total surprise and completely unexpected! 😎
In Georgia I got very sick (39.3 C fever, sore throat… don't worry it was not covid!) and had one of the most stressful travel stories as I crashed one of my drones in a private property with the police very close. It's a happy ending as I recovered it (thanks to so many people there, including the police who were amazing) but I cannot even explain those 24 hours between being sick, stressed and the feeling of going to prison. If you're interested let me know and I'll make a video. On the other hand, we came to Georgia via Yerevan (Armenia) in an overnight Soviet train. I filmed everything. Stay tuned! 🤒
In Azerbaijan I had a wake-up call when seeing Baku, one of the most spectacular capitals I've ever seen. Funny story, we almost couldn't enter as they checked our passports and asked “What were you doing in Armenia?”. As you know there are a lot of tensions between those 2 countries. My trick was to go through Georgia first but they still checked the passport stamp haha. 🤯
