This week, I released a video -> How To Prepare Yerba Mate Like A Local and as always I'd love to hear your thoughts! 👂 👀
One of the biggest stories in the last couple of weeks has been YouTube removing the “Dislike” count, at least for the viewers. I must admit I don't like this as besides making videos I also watch a lot of content for educational & entertainment purposes. This means that I can't quickly see the average ratio likes/dislikes anymore. Why is this so important? Well I guess, that's how sometimes you decide if you want to spend time on something or not. If you're a book fan, probably the cover (thumbnail/title) says a lot but also the reviews (likes/dislikes) on Amazon and other platforms. These days we frequently buy online based on reviews. 👎
Few years ago I watched the episode Nosedive of Black Mirror. The plot is simple: Society has embraced a technology wherein everyone shares their daily activities through eye implants and mobile devices and rates their interactions with others on a scale of one to five stars, cumulatively affecting everyone's status. There was one woman seeking to raise her 4.2 rating to 4.5 for a discount on a luxury property so she went nuts trying to please people and this was even worse. I'm not going to tell you how it ends as you might want to watch it. 🤐
Things like that help us understand the dangers of taking social media too seriously, and how it can drive someone nuts. I know Black Mirror is insane (I'm a fan) but the point is that we as humans still have the ability to judge people for who they are in person but social media can penetrate the real world. 🤯
Ever since I started YouTube I started to treat social media more as a business as I no longer enjoy sharing personal stuff without giving value to somebody else. If I were to share all those things now, I'd try to make it in a way that it can help somebody. Obviously this is just my personal opinion as it's me writing of course. 😀
Holiday season coming soon , Christmas fast approaching and can't wait to start travelling again. I'll be running away from Spain in the next few weeks and heading to Northern Europe for a little while. Isn't it fascinating the snow period and the celebration vibes? ⛄
Have a great week!

🐦 This Week’s Tweet
This is a meme as YouTube Removed the 'Dislikes' count. That video is the most disliked video in the history of YouTube but having 3 million “likes” make it look amazing as there's no dislike count to compare with. The button remains but the count is only available to the creator. This has been a pretty controversial topic and YouTube's argument has been about protecting small creators and improving mental health. I'm not a fan of this initiative given it will be harder to understand the quality of a video “on the fly”. The average likes/dislikes used to be the quick way to understand if the creator delivered the promise. Anyway, the story is here.
