50 | Europe's Best Kept Secret
Hey guys,
This week, I released a video-> Europe's Best Kept SECRET ?! ANYKŠČIAI, The Town You CAN'T Pronounce | Lithuania Vlog. I'd love to hear your thoughts! 🤓
I'm now back in the UK after 3 weeks in Lithuania. But still have a backlog of multiple videos about Lithuania that I'll be working on. In any case, it's always nice to be back after some time abroad. It's not that I have homesickness but from time to time after new experiences/places I always enjoy going back to my environment. It's also a way for me to appreciate more what just happened. 🧳
Anykščiai is one of those places full of legends (poets, artists, stories, etc.) that when you're there, you feel some extra energy. For example, when I went for a run in the forest I found some pagan heritage on the way (elements, tree marks, etc.) It's hard to explain but you just see these things by being there. 🪵
In the past weeks I also talked about Vilnius (the capital) and Kaunas (second largest city) in Lithuania. Don't worry, I'm not going to talk about Lithuania forever. But I always find weird the fact that we know very little about the Baltics (Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia). Obviously marketing plays a role but I genuinely hate people assuming that in those countries everybody speaks Russian, it's always cold, it's scary Eastern Europe (it's Northern Europe by the way!), people are introverts, they live in the Stone Age or women are models. These are just old-fashioned stereotypes and the best way to evolve as a society is to move away from all that, travel with an open mind and embrace different cultures. 🗺️
Finally, did you know that Lithuania is the geographical centre of Europe? The Baltics are often referred as “Eastern Europe” but according to the French National Geographic Institute the geographic centre of Europe is located at 54°54′N 25°19′E… and this is near a village called Girija in Lithuania. 🧭
Enjoy your Sunday and have a great week!
