35 | The Power of Breathing
Hey guys,
This week, I released a video 🎬 about Barbados, Caribbean Paradise 🚀. This video is about 3 Reflections from my trip. In case you don't get the notification, every time I post a new video, you can get an alert by clicking here. 🎞️
When making the video, I was not thinking about cocktails, parties or celebrity hub. In fact, quite the opposite. I was thinking of Stress Management. We discussed in the previous newsletter the “Caribbean Time” and how things go at a different pace… but we didn't really tackle one of the oldest challenges in life: Stress. 😟
Becoming intentional with our time has been a trendy topic for a while simply because we work more than ever and we frequently get lost. These days gurus talk about how to focus on the big picture and not get lost in details. But how can we achieve that when we're “blind”? 🧑🦯
We're blind partially because we are “busy” with our routine. Or in other words, we're constantly in the washing machine. Emails, calls, meetings, goals, expectations and multitasking are some of the things we might be all familiar with. Social pressure is becoming one of those things leading to stress. 🤯
I'm not a doctor and I do not have the solution. We're all different people and we should seek professional help accordingly. However, there's one very simple thing I've been doing for a while and helped me manage my stress levels: Breathing. 🫁
This is about being in the moment with our breathing to release ourselves from the noise happening in our heads. From my experience, this is almost an instant recipe to improve my mood. When I do it, I can see myself more focused, grounded and come back to the present less stressed. 😊 By the way, I wrote plenty of articles about that in case you want to check here.
We can apply some breathing techniques during meditation but it doesn't matter if we don't meditate. We can focus on breathing from whatever place we are. For example, I'm writing now and I could stop and focus on breathing. Deep breath in, long breath out. Repeating this cycle for 5 minutes is already very good. Of course, if we want to take it to the next level there's a lot of different techniques but that's not the point. 🧘
Breathing won't fix the underlying issue but it will eliminate a lot of the noise and give us more mental clarity. Stress is everywhere but how we react is the key. I talk about this in the last minute of this video as last week I had one of my worst filming days since I started YouTube and I try to take those events as wake-up calls to remind myself how important things are. 🔑
If you want to talk about stress management, please hit “reply” to this email or simply DM me here 🐦 or here 📸. I'm not an expert and I don't want to be it either… but I've implemented (perhaps without even knowing) a system (in my mind) to control it a bit better.
Have a great week and enjoy the content below!

📝 This Week's Blog Post
This is one of the places where I could consider living for few years. And the answer is not because they have great drinks, parties and endless sun. It’s because this place has elements of so many different cultures due to their history such as British, American, African and Caribbean itself.
