32 | Time Is Relative

Hey guys,

This week, I released a video 🎬 about Things I Didn't Expect in Dominican Republic 🚀. When we think about a Caribbean island, I’m sure words like freedom, tropical sunshine, relaxation, and joy come to mind. We’re not wrong. But in the video I wanted to share 3 things I experienced that go beyond that and were the highlights of my trip. When working on the video, I was thinking that the biggest communication problem is not language. It's the fact that we don't listen to understand but we listen to reply. We're constantly reacting and making assumptions. 👂

In the island, time is relative. We can't control it. There's no need to rush to do things. There's no "oh, do I have time for this?" If something happens, it’s meant to happen. There’s no pressure to speak and no rush to think. We just need to listen to understand the signals. ⌛

I feel like in a way they practice mindfulness by slowing down, making happiness a way of life and not stressing about every little detail. They don't spend their time complaining, but choose to work hard and do it with a smile. I truly admire the way they go through life with a positive attitude. 🧘

Finally, I started to track all my activity based on the old Pomodoro Technique, a time management system that encourages us to work with the time we have—rather than against it. Using this method, we break our workday into 25-minute chunks separated by 5-minute breaks. These intervals are pomodoros. 🍅
